I’m in the final stages of exam revision. This means that the piano is getting neglected. I’m really missing it, but its the last push now, less than 1 month to go.
All this revision means I’m spending too much time on the PC, which does have the one benefit of having the whole internet’s worth of tunes at my fingertips. So at the weekend I had a bit of an 80s inspired soundtrack to my studies, including Judie Tzuke’s Stay With Me Till Dawn, Peter Gabriel’s Don’t Give Up, and Prefab Sprout’s When Love Breaks Down.
I’m hoping that in the exam I’ll be able to remember the subject by recalling what tune I was listening to at the time of revision…..
I’d love to know your favourite 80s tunes?

Ah, yes, 80s music. I loved Icehouse, Petshop Boys, Erasure, Annie Lennox, Flock of Seagulls… I was in a shop one quiet evening that was playing 80s music over the sound system. If you listened carefully, you could hear patrons humming along. This was in stark contrast to another shop that blared acid rock. Could. Not. Wait. To. Leave.

fortunately acid rock doesn’t infringe on my life at all, so I am spared that! I can’t remember Icehouse, what was their big hit?

Electric Blue, I think. I remember getting it as a single (!)

My favourite 80s tunes (that I didn’t listen to during the 80s!) are Africa by Toto; The Final Countdown by Europe, and Amazed by Lonestar. Cheese-tastic and rather populist…

The final Countdown was the first ever single I bought (record tokens for my Birthday) my sister wanted me to buy Reet Petite, because she liked it. I hated Reet Petite so went with my own random pick f something I liked the cover over. Europe it was, and a very fine choice. That record got played endlessly. *air guitars all day*
